Kimball G. Orwoll, now serving in an of counsel capacity at Klampe Law Firm, is a Rochester native with over 44 years of experience practicing family law in the Olmsted County and Southeast Minnesota area. He was admitted to practice in 1980 and was a solo practitioner for over 34 years focused on family law, in addition to representing clients guardianship/conservatorship matters, child protection cases and estate planning. He is a graduate of St. Olaf College and Mitchell Hamline School of Law.
He has taken particular interest in advocating for the best interest of children, and served as a Guardian Ad Litem, as well as having extensive experience serving as legal counsel for Guardians Ad Litem. He was a member of Olmsted County’s Children’s Justice Initiative Team, a joint venture of the Minnesota Supreme Court and the Minnesota Department of Human Services focused on improving the processing of cases and outcomes for children in child protection cases.
He is a strong supporter of alternative dispute resolution (ADR), which provides both parties with the opportunity to achieve positive outcomes through cooperation and respect, while avoiding the financial and emotional burdens that often result from litigation. He has served as an Early Neutral Evaluator and has represented many clients through mediation, arbitration, Social and Financial Early Neutral Evaluations (SENE/FENE), and other forms of ADR.
He is the eldest child of two very active and community minded parents. His father served as legal counsel for a well-known medical institution here in Rochester. He credits his parents’ guidance for setting the standard by which he has treated and interacted with clients. Kim and his wife, of over 46 years, also a Rochester native, place great emphasis on family and are extremely proud of their adult daughter, son-in-law, and first grandchild. His personal interests extend in many directions, including the pursuit of outdoor activities to the unique experience he has had for over 50 years presenting licensed professional fireworks displays.
