Mark Delehanty, a partner at Klampe Law Firm, has been with the firm since 1994. He has experience with a broad range of legal issues. For the past decade his practice has focused primarily on representing injured people and their loved ones in accident, injury and death cases. He has broad experience with litigating business disputes and with employment law matters including discrimination, discharge, severance and wage issues.
Mark was born in 1957 in Minneapolis, Minnesota, the third of six children. He graduated from De LaSalle High School in Minneapolis in 1975. After a year of college, Mark worked from 1976 to 1980 in California with Cesar Chavez and the United Farm Workers, after which he returned to Minnesota where he graduated with honors from St. John’s University in 1983 with degrees in Government and Theology. Before law school he lived one year in Peru as a volunteer in an impoverished Catholic parish.
Mark attended the University of Minnesota Law School, and graduated with honors in 1987. He was a legal writing instructor and a director of the Civil Rights Moot Court program.
Following law school, Mark served a two-year clerkship with Judge Diana E. Murphy of the Federal District Court in Minnesota. He started his career in private legal practice in Minneapolis with the firm Leonard, Street and Deinard, where he worked until 1994, when he and his family moved to Rochester, Minnesota, his wife’s hometown.
Mark is married to Martha Bowman, and they have three children – Eileen, Dhanya and Ravi. The younger two children were adopted as infants from India. Martha, a fifth generation rural Rochester native, is a graduate of Lourdes High School, and Mayo Medical School, and is a physician with Olmsted Medical Center in Rochester. The family owns and lives on the family farm five miles east of Rochester, where the family’s history traces back to 1857.
Mark is a board member of Southern Minnesota Regional Legal Services (“SMRLS”). He is a founding member of his local Haverhill Township Zoning and Planning Commission, and he serves as pro bono counsel for a number of civic and cultural organizations in the Rochester area. He was twice voted “volunteer of the year” by Legal Assistance of Olmsted County.
Mark speaks fluent Spanish. His hobbies and non-professional interests include family activities, youth sports, hunting, gardening and travel.
